Outfits to wear with dresses and boots
There are many outfit combinations when it comes to wearing dresses and boots, but with the rain downpours that are happening all over the country these days we want you to be unstoppable this fall season so that you look good, and feel comfortable so you can accomplish anything! Our boots are meant to look chic while at the same time keeping you dry- so you are always unstoppable.
By following a few simple style rules, you can create easy outfit combinations that you’ll be able to use throughout the fall season!
Find the right boots
To begin with, pick out a dress that’s suitable for the occasion and find the boots that will work with your outfit. It’s important to pay attention to where the hemlines of your dresses sit and ensure that the cut of your boots complement this. You want to always lengthen your silhouette, so ankle boots and knee-high boots are the classic silhouettes to work with.
Pick your color
If you want a pair of boots that work with your entire autumn and winter wardrobe, stick with neutral shades like black and tan or if you’re ready to add some fun go for bright palettes like reds and yellows.
Can you wear short boots with a dress?
Short boots, like ankle boots and Chelsea boots are perfect for wearing with dresses through every season, whether it be fall or summer. Ankle boots are perhaps the most popular style for wearing with dresses as their short silhouette will elongate the appearance of your leg.
Flat boots like our Chelsea boots are very versatile, since they are considered the most classic style of ankle boots, they work well with knee-length dresses and skirts, plus they’re easy to slip on thanks to their thanks to stretchy goring side panels. Don’t forget we want you to be unstoppable so these are a great option!
Wearing long dresses and boots
For a smarter look, go for a dress with a longer length, preferably down to your ankle, and wear either our heeled ankle boots or our knee-high boots. By layering hemlines and playful floral prints, you can create an easy, yet very elegant look. Use a belt or a scarf around your waist to break up the long length of the dress and accentuate your waistline, this will work especially well if you’re wearing a dress with a print or pattern as this can overpower the general shape of your dress.
Another style we love is a sweater dress with a cute leather or jean jacket. A sweater dress is a great dress option during the fall. You could do a longer coat with it, but a shorter coat with a longer dress creates a more elongated shape. You could do heeled boots, but also a flat Chelsea boot is great with a sock to soften the transition from boot to leg, or even put on our rubber rain boot with a pop of color.
Wear a black dress with tights and boots
If you’re heading somewhere nice and it’s super cold, wear black boots and tights! You can find all sorts of patterned or textured tights to give a dimension to the outfit as well. You could pair this with a flowy dress which could create a nice contrast to the slim and taller ankle boot. Accessorize with a belt for a flattering silhouette.
Or try a taller boot with a tight dress
If you need some extra warmth, a taller boot is a great option. Our Equus boots riding boot can complement a smooth, tight dress as well. You can absolutely do this boot with a shorter dress too, but make sure the hem is above the top of your boot if you choose a shorter dress.
